PEIF Lessons Learned


Supporting innovative projects to create manageable and sustainable placement strategies and systems in BC

A total of $6 million in funding was provided from both the Ministry of Health and the Ministry of Advanced Education to support projects aimed at enhancing quality, capacity, and management of practice education opportunities for students enrolled in healthcare provider education programs in BC.

Highlights of the value brought forth from the PEIF projects include:

  • Expanding system capacity for student placement opportunities
  • Building on an advanced placement information system (HSPnet)
  • System standardization through the creation and signing of affiliation agreements
  • Building the infrastructure for cross-sector and cross-disciplinary collaboration
  • Facilitating opportunities for post-secondary institution and Health Authority staff professional development
  • Exploring new models of practice education as well as the sharing of tools and lessons learned
  • Utilizing technology-based learning for preceptors and students

The hard work and dedicated efforts of the PEIF project teams are substantial and you are encouraged to review the individidual projects.
