Did You Know?

The Ministry of Health Services has worked with the Ministry of Advanced Education to:

Establish the first three-year accelerated nursing degree program in B.C. with a first intake of 64 students in August 2008. Approximately 136 graduates from the new program will enter the workforce in 2011/12, increasing to 192 graduates in 2013/14.

Health Authority Working Group PDF Print E-mail

The Health Authorities Working Group (HAWG) is comprised of members from BC's six health authorities.  HAWG continues to exchange and share knowledge which supports infrastructure building in Health Authorities.  HAWG has developed standardized, inter-professional guidelines that are endorsed by the Practice Education Committee and then posted on HSPnet.  In 2008 the following Guidelines were either developed, updated or endorsed:

  • Immunization Guideline – Endorsed
  • Documentation Guideline – Endorsed
  • Criminal Records Check Guideline – Updated and Endorsed
  • Intellectual Property (Copyright) Guideline - Drafted

HAWG will continue the implementation of Practice Education Guidelines and placement capacity building activities such as preceptorship as well as strengthening standardized reporting in 2009/2010.
